It was a big week for Desiree Hartsock – the Bachelorette went on her final round of dates before deciding on which four guys would go on hometown dates. Desiree and her final 5 guys left Spain behind and headed to Madeira, Portugal for three one-on-one dates and one two-on-one date.
The first date goes to Brooks. Des picks him up in a smart car and they head up a mountain and above the clouds. They stop to enjoy the view with a small picnic. Things get serious over dinner later when Brooks opens up about how his family becomes invested in his girlfriends. He tells Des that he would love for her to meet his family.
Chris gets the second one-on-one. The pair take a yacht to a deserted island where Chris pulls out another poetry surprise for Des – the write a poem together, put it inside a bottle, and throw the bottle into the ocean. Over dinner later, Chris has another poem for Des and it’s a little more serious than his previous compositions because he ends it with "Our hearts are open, and in every kiss/I truly mean that I love you." Des loves it.
The final one-on-one goes to Michael. Des and Michael spend the day exploring a local town, sampling food and taking a ride on a toboggan. Michael opens up at dinner about his estranged father, his desire to be a great husband and father, and his last girlfriend. He tells Des that she has allowed him to feel certain feelings again and that gives him hope.
Zak and Drew go on the dreaded two-on-one, but luckily for them no one will be sent packing. They meet Des at an elaborate go-kart track for a day of racing. The guys go head to head with Des cheering them on. Zak wins the race and the first one-on-one time. He uses his time to give Des a book of drawings that depict their Bachelorette journey together. Drew takes a more serious approach. He opens up about his handicapped sister, invites Des to go with him to pick her up on the hometown date, and ends his time by telling Des that he has fallen in love with her. Des gives Drew the date rose.
Chris Harrison sits down with Des for a talk before the rose ceremony. He asks how she is feeling about her guys. Des confesses that she is in love with Brooks and can imagine a life with Chris.
At the rose ceremony, Des sends Michael packing. That means she will meet the families of Zak, Chris, Brooks and Drew next week on The Bachelorette.
