Kim Kardashian and Kanye West had equal say in naming their daughter North, according to Kim’s mom Kris Jenner. In a new interview with HuffPost Live, Jenner insists the unusual name was a “joint decision” for the couple.
"I think it was a joint decision. They did it together,” she said.
As for whether she had any say in the name, Jenner admits that she “stayed out of that one.” "I did the same thing with [daughter] Kourtney when she named [children] Mason and Penelope,” she explained.
North may be an odd name choice, but Jenner said there is plenty of meaning behind it for Kim and Kanye. "She said North is the highest power. And their baby North, their little girl, is the highest point and power between the two of them. So I thought that was really cool,” said Jenner.
Neither Kim nor Kanye has commented on their daughter’s birth. North arrived about 5 weeks early on June 15. She is the first child for the couple.
