Waltons actor Joe Conley has died after a battle with dementia. According to his wife Louise, Conley passed away Sunday at a nursing home in Newbury Park, California. He was 85-years-old. No other details were available.
Conley appeared on popular shows like "Green Acres" and "The Beverly Hillbillies,” but it is his longtime role on The Waltons for which he is best known. Conley starred as Virginia general store owner Ike Godsey from the show’s debut in 1972 until its end in 1981. He then appeared as Ike in Waltons TV movies.
The Waltons was based on the book Spencer’s Mountain by Earl Hamner, Jr. It followed the Waltons family as they lived through the Great Depression and World War II. The Waltons also starred Richard Thomas, Ralph Waite, Michael Learned, Ellen Corby and Will Geer.
