AMWA Reports that Women Physicians Overwhelmingly Support a Public Option

Survey by American Medical Women’s Association (AMWA) Shows 92% Support for Universal Access to Healthcare

The American Medical Women’s Association (AMWA), the nation’s oldest and largest multispecialty organization for women physicians, recently surveyed its members to assess their opinions on healthcare reform at this pivotal juncture in US history. Key results include strong support (92%) for universal access to healthcare in the United States, with 89% endorsing the inclusion of a public option in healthcare reform legislation.

These results mirror the findings from recent surveys of both the American public and healthcare practitioners.  AMWA encourages legislators to heed the opinions of patients and providers rather than serve the interests of the insurance industry by ensuring that a robust public option is included in any healthcare legislation that is passed.
