On this week’s episode of The Bachelorette, Desiree Hartsock went on perhaps the most important set of dates of the season – hometown dates. The bridal stylist hoped meeting the families of her 4 remaining guys would give her clarity about the next rose ceremony.
Des makes her first stop in Dallas, Texas to meet Zak’s family. Zak kicks off the date by introducing Des to his family’s snow cone truck business. The pair set up shop outside an elementary school. While Des hands out snow cones, Zak dons a penguin suit to entertain the children. They soon leave the snow cone truck behind and head to Zak’s family home. The family welcomes Desiree with opens arms and she earns their seal of approval. Zak later tells Des that he loves her. He also presents her with a ring he bought in Atlantic City.
The next stop for Des is Scottsdale, Arizona where she will meet Drew’s family at his mom’s house. He reveals that this will be the first time his dad has ever been in his mom and stepdad’s house. On their way to lunch, the pair picks up Drew’s mentally handicapped sister. It’s a touching moment as Des can see how much Drew cares for his sister. Drew’s parents fall in love with Des immediately and they both encourage Drew’s hope to propose.
Desiree makes her way to McMinnville, Oregon next to meet Chris’ family. His chiropractor dad is immediately comfortable with Des, but Chris’ mom has some reservations. She questions Chris about what will happen with the relationship after the show. Chris lays her concerns to rest and she gives her blessing.
Last but not least is Brooks’ hometown date in Salt Lake City, Utah. Des knows he harbors doubts, so she shows him draws that depict their Bachelorette journey together. At his family’s home, Des meets his parents, siblings and the siblings’ significant others. Des fits right in and Brooks’ mom is quick to notice.
Before the rose ceremony, Des sits down for a talk with her brother Nate. She still feels Nate ruined her chances with Sean on The Bachelor so she is understandably wary about letting him meet any of her guys. Nate tries his best to put her doubts to rest, but Desiree refuses to commit to letting him meet the guys.
Des gives Brooks, Chris and Drew roses at the rose ceremony. Zak is sent packing.
