A car bombing in a busy market in northwestern Pakistan has killed at least 24 people and injured 100 more.

The attack occurred at the main market in Charsadda, the third such attack in the North West Frontier Province in three days. According to police the car was packed with about 40 kg of explosives and had been parked near a row of fruit and juice shops when it detonated.

Several buildings surrounding the market were damaged in the blast and the Charsadda hospital is said to be full of victims caught in the explosion. There have been no claims of responsibility in the attack but the Pakistani Taliban is widely suspected.
