Although much of the focus thus-far has been on higher-temperature geothermal market opportunities, older technology is really to blame. There are a large amount of geothermal wells that had to be capped and written off due to either their heat flow being too low of a temperature or their volume being too low. With the advent of PwrCor™ Technology, this will now change.
Although there is no real assessment of the size of lower-temperature geothermal market opportunity, the best estimates put the size of the market somewhere around 3 times the existing opportunity in the U.S. alone. This is about 20,000 Megawatts or 20 Gigawatts.
PwrCor™ Technology is the first real attempt to tap into the low-grade and totally unexploited low-grade geothermal market. Cornerstone Sustainable Energy, LLC. uses the PwrCor™ Engine as a way to provide multiple solutions for companies. They can also tap into the remaining waste heat, or bottoming cycle, to improve the efficiency of the existing high-temperature geothermal installations after the primary cycle is complete.
As mentioned before, the geothermal wells that were drilled, as well as some other wells, are very attractive right now because the PwrCor™ Engine can go where older, now outdated and obsolete technologies, cannot. Until now, these vast geothermal resources have been untapped because older competing technologies were unable to convert the low volume heat flows of low-grade heat into power.
