LeBron James Lights it up in Cleveland Cavaliers Win over the Detroit Pistons

LeBron James finished with 41 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists and got plenty of help from his teammates to give the Cleveland Cavaliers (36-25) a 101-97 overtime victory over the Detroit Pistons (37-22).

While James had a huge night it was his supporting cast that kept the Cavs in the game. Drew Gooden had 22 points and 10 boards while Zydrunas Igauskas added 14 points and 10 rebounds.

Cleveland jumped to a 12 point advantage in the first quarter before settling for a 34-24 lead after the opening twelve minutes. They pushed their lead to 40-27 early in the second but the Pistons finished the quarter on a 23-12 run and trailed by just two at the break.

Both teams traded baskets in the third and by the end of the quarter they were knotted at 70.

Detroit actually built a nine point lead in the opening moments of the fourth quarter but the Pistons didn’t hit a shot from the floor for the next six minutes and the Cavs were able to grab the lead on a LeBron James jumper. Detroit moved back up by two when Richard Jeffers hit a running jumper and converted a free-throw after being fouled. James answered once again for the Cavs with a game tying dunk with five seconds in the fourth to send the game to overtime.

Cleveland then held the Pistons to just one field goal in overtime to get the win.

Richard Hamilton led the Pistons with 29 points while Chris Webber added 20 points and 11 rebounds in the loss.
