The littlest member of the royal family has arrived. The Duchess of Cambridge gave birth to a healthy baby boy Monday afternoon in London. The baby was born naturally at 4:24 p.m. weighing 8 pounds, 6 ounces. He is third in line to the thrown behind grandfather Prince Charles and dad Prince William. The baby’s name has not been released.
"Her Royal Highness and her child are both doing well," the palace say in the official birth announcement placed outside Buckingham Palace.
First time grandfather Prince Charles released a statement saying, "Both my wife and I are overjoyed at the arrival of my first grandchild. It is an incredibly special moment for William and Catherine, and we are so thrilled for them on the birth of their baby boy.”
Kate Middleton and Prince William arrived at St. Mary’s Hospital in London shortly before 6 o’clock this morning. She is expected to remain in the hospital overnight.
