In their first statement together as new parents, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge thanked St. Mary’s Hospital in London for the “tremendous care” they received during the birth of their son on Monday.
"We would like to thank the staff at the Lindo Wing and the whole hospital for the tremendous care the three of us have received. We know it has been a very busy period for the hospital and we would like to thank everyone – staff, patients and visitors – for their understanding during this time,” the couple said Tuesday.
Kate Middleton delivered their son in the Lindo Wing, the same place that Prince Diana gave birth to Prince William in 1982, on Monday at 4:24 p.m. He weighed in at 8 pounds, 6 ounces. Middleton and Prince William have not announced their newborn’s name.
The baby received his first visitors Tuesday afternoon when Middleton’s parents Michael and Carole dropped by for about an hour. "He's absolutely beautiful," Carole told reporters after the visit. "They are both doing well. We are absolutely thrilled."
