Academy Award nominated actor Leonardo DiCaprio will be writing and producing a feature length documentary about the dangers surrounding global warming. Titled “11th Hour,” the work will not only outline the damage done by global warming but also offer solutions that may curb the harmful effects that have been inflicted on the environment.
DiCaprio has long been an advocate of living “green” and has publicly called for greater awareness to alternative energy sources as well as developing an eco-friendly lifestyle.
Global warming and restoring the planet’s ecosystem has become one of the most popular causes launched by celebrities over the last several years. Former vice president Al Gore won and Oscar for his documentary “An Inconvenient Truth,” Robert Redford has created numerous programs for environmental causes, Brad Pitt recently launched a competition for designing energy efficient houses, Ed Norton has advocated the use of solar panels as an energy source for homes and Sting has founded a foundation for preserving the rain forests.
DiCaprio’s documentary is due for release later this year.
