Ken Griffey Jr. will be back in a Seattle Mariners uniform for 2010 after the 39-year-old agreed to a one-year deal that was believed to be similar to the contract he signed for the 2009 season.
Griffey hit just .214 in 117 games last year but did have 19 home runs and 57 RBIs while leading the Mariners in walks with 63. Perhaps Griffey’s biggest contribution to the Mariners was his presence in the club house where he essentially brought the team together.
In 2008 the Mariners were an awful 61-101 on the year but after Griffey was signed for the 2009 season Seattle improved to 85-77, good enough for third in the AL West.
