Jury Convicts Curtis Lavelle Vance in Murder of Arkansas TV Anchorwoman Anne Pressly

A jury has convicted 29-year-old Curtis Lavelle Vance of capital murder in the brutal beating death of Arkansas television anchorwoman Anne Pressly.

Pressly was found unconscious, lying in her bed, by her mother on the morning of October 20, 2008. The popular 26-year-old KATV Channel 7 anchorwoman spent five days in the hospital but never regained consciousness.

Police eventually arrested Vance after DNA gathered linked him to the murder scene at Pressly’s home. His defense argued that he had been tricked into confessing to the murder and providing a DNA sample but the jury did not buy that argument.

In addition to being found guilty of capital murder Vance was also found guilty of rape and burglary.

A panel will now decide if Vance is sentenced to death or if he will spend the rest of his life in prison.
