Pacific WebWorks, Inc. (OTC:PWEB) is currently under a class action in Cook County Court for allegedly running an internet scam. According to the class action, the company promises “thousands of dollars” to “work-at-home” buy purchasing a “Google Business Kit.” This is not the first case in which a company has used Google’s name to charge outrageous fees.

Plaintiff Barbara Ford found Pacific WebWorks through a story the company posted on her AOL homepage. She claims that she authorized a $1.97 charge to her card for a “Google Business Kit” and was unaware that she putatively “consented” to another charge of $79.99. Ford never received her business kit and was refused a refund.
