Tuesday afternoon ended the heated game that was played and concluded with a poker player very familiar to the tables, Andrew Cimpan walked away after battling it out in the Second Annual Work Poker Tournament. This game may have been second natural to Andrew but the competition was fierce as the game started heating up and tensions rose towards the second portion of the tournament. In the end, only one man left standing.
For anyone who is a poker player follower, anyone who was watching, whether on TV, live or online, could see that this was no school ground game. These players all held a cynical look in their walk, talk and the smell of money in their sense. This is was something that only the big boys and girls were up for, and even then, a lot of them went down hard, leaving 10, 5 then 2. Going head to head for that big win of $900,000 cash.
Of course as mentioned, there can only be one champion of Poker, but for the runner up the take home consolation package wasn’t bad either. As runner-up finish Soheil earned $463,332, which nearly doubles his third place previous win, when he took him $270,000, which he acquired earlier this year at the WPT Southern Poker Championship. Whoever said the last guy comes in empty, needs to turn on the television and watch a few of the World Poker Tournaments.
The well know, and well liked poker player Shamsedinn just about had Cimpan where he wanted him a few times and after he was finished schooling him, the tables turned. When it was time to play real ball, and call out all the stakes, the game took a unexpected twist, after calling Cimpan’s huge all-in move with a King-Jack that was stomped with Cornel’s Jack-Ace.
Winning is nothing new to now world renown two time world Poker Champ Cornel Andrew Cimpan who earned his second win in the World Poker Tournament (WPT) in Foxwoods after 187 hands. His first win was not that long ago, as only a mere 9 months ago; in late February Cimpan took his first title win in the World Poker Tournament at the Foxwoods. It was noted that this particular tournament this year had a drastic decline in participants than in recent years, with roughly 350 entries. Last year there were 412 poker players. Not only did the second time champion walk away with the crowning title of champion, Cimpan also won $910,058 in this poker tournament alone. As things started to heat up Champion Cimpan went to the final heads up with fellow competitor Soheil Shamsedinn.
Other competitions you can catch online would include the World Poker Tour of Foxwoods in which there were six poker players in the finale including Eric Froehlich, Lee Markholt, Matt Stout, and Cornel Andrew Cimpan.
