College Basketball: Memphis Tigers Beat Houston Cougars for C-USA Title

Chris Douglas-Roberts and Antonio Anderson each had 17 points while Joey Dorsey finished with 9 points and 12 rebounds and Robert Dozier had 8 points and 10 boards as the Memphis Tigers (30-3) capped a perfect run through the Conference USA with a 71-59 victory over the Houston Cougars (18-15).

Houston held a 24-29 advantage over the Tigers with just under ten minutes remaining in the first half but then the Cougars went cold. Houston hit just one shot from the field over the final 9:38 in the first half and Memphis built a 40-29.

Much was the same in the second half as the Cougars couldn’t mount any type of offense against the aggressive Tigers defense. With Memphis contesting just about every shot Houston put up the Cougars were only able to make one field goal over the final 6:30 of the game.

Memphis extended their winning streak to 22 games and look primed for a number one seed when the NCAA Selection Committee announces the brackets for the NCAA Tournament.
