College Basketball: Albany Great Danes Dance after Nipping Vermont Catamounts in American East Conference
Jamar Wilson scored 22 points and grabbed 7 rebounds while Jason Siggers added 14 to lead the Albany Great Danes (23-9) past the Vermont Catamounts (25-7) 60-59 in the American East Conference championship.
The Catamounts had a chance to win the game at the end when they had the ball with 32.4 seconds remaining. Sophomore guard Mike Trimboli let the clock run down while trying to set up his final drive to the bucket but had the ball knocked away and the clock expired.
Vermont was forced to play without big man Chris Holm after the 6’11 forward twisted his ankle on the opening tip.
The victory gave the Albany Great Danes an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
