Brandan Wright scored 20 points and grabbed 5 rebounds while Tyler Hansbrough finished with 9 points and 13 boards as the North Carolina Tar Heels (27-6) blew out the Boston College Eagles (20-11) 71-56.
While the final score showed a 15-point advantage for UNC the game was never really that close. The Tar Heels never trailed in the game and BC couldn’t get any closer than 50-41 in the second half as UNC advanced to the championship game in the ACC tourney.
The Tar Heels shot an impressive 48 percent from the field and converted 77 percent of their free-throws while limiting the Eagles to just 34 percent shooting for the game. UNC also dominated the glass with a 41-27 advantage.
Sean Marshall led Boston College with 23 points in the loss. BC will now have to hope their regular season performance, which included a 10-6 record in the ACC, will be good enough to earn an at-large bid in the NCAA Tournament.
For North Carolina, a win on Sunday over N.C. State could earn them a number one seed when it comes time to dance.
