Jeff Green scored 21 points and grabbed 5 rebounds while Roy Hibbert added 18 points and 11 rebounds as the Georgetown Hoyas (26-6) beat the Pittsburgh Panthers (27-7) 65-42 to win the Big East Championship.
The Hoyas, coming off a close game with Notre Dame in the semifinals, made short work of the Panthers in the finals. Pittsburgh trailed 15-13 with 7:51 left in the first half and that was as close as they would get. Georgetown went on a 13-0 run to go up 15 and went to the locker room wit a 32-17 lead.
Pittsburgh was never any closer than 13 in the second half as the Hoyas continued to hit just about everything they put up.
Georgetown hit 52 percent from the floor, including 41 percent from beyond the three-point arc. Pittsburgh was nothing short of awful from the field, knocking down a miserable 26 percent, 17 percent from the three-point line.
