Evangelist Tony Alamo Sentenced to 175 Years for Sex with Underage Girls

Tony Alamo, founder of the Tony Alamo Christian Ministries in Arkansas, was sentenced to 175 years in prison after being convicted of 10 counts of interstate transportation of minors for illegal sexual purposes, rape, sexual assault and contributing to the delinquency of minors.

Alamo took “child brides,” some as young as 8-years-old, from his ministry. Three of his “brides” testified against him.

The 75-year-old used his status as pastor to gain the trust of the girls and their families. After molesting them, Alamo threatened the girls with “the loss of their salvation.”

Alamo’s lawyers plan to appeal the ruling.
