Continental Airlines Inc. (NYSE: CAL) said Friday that an executive from a private equity firm has been added to its board, according to Associated Press.
The airline said Laurence E. Simmons, president of SCF Partners, was elected to board. He founded SCF, which invests in oilfield-services companies, in 1989. Before that, he was a co-founder and partner of Simmons & Co. International.

Simmons is on the board of Zions Bancorporation and was previously on the board of ExpressJet Holdings Inc. (NYSE: XJT), whose affiliates operate regional flights for Continental.
