Pacquiao Picks Apart Cotto for Record Seventh Title, Floyd Mayweather Jr. on the Horizon

The dream fight between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr. may become a reality after the Filipino picked apart Miguel Cotto on Saturday night, earning 12th round TKO for a record seventh title in seven different weight divisions.

Pacquiao dominated Cotto with his quickness and surprising power, dropping the Puerto Rican in the third and fourth rounds before referee Kenny Bayless stopped the fight 55 seconds into in the 12th round.

Many thought the jump to 145 would be too much for Pacquiao but after a feeling out process in the first round it was clear that the he was comfortable. He dropped Cotto in the third round with a nasty right and one round later he sent him to the canvas again with a left.

The win not only made history, as Pacquiao became the first boxer to ever win seven titles in seven different divisions, it also set up a huge showdown with Floyd Mayweather Jr. in what could deliver the biggest payday the ring has ever seen.

Pacquiao has long stated he would love to fight Mayweather, a sentiment echoed by his trainer Freddie Roach. That fight will likely come down to whether Mayweather is willing put his legacy on the line against a fighter who has shown time and again that he should be considered the best pound-for-pound fighter in the business.
