Brett Favre was 20/29 passing for 344 yards and a touchdown, Adrian Peterson collected 133 yards on the ground and a pair of TDs and Sidney Rice had 201 yards receiving as the Minnesota Vikings (8-1) cruised past the Detroit Lions (1-8) 27-10 on Sunday.
Ryan Longwell provided the only points of the first quarter with a 22-yard field goal and the Vikings carried that 3-0 advantage into the second frame. Adrian Peterson extended the lead to 10-0 when he scored on a 22-yard run and Minnesota looked to be in complete control. Detroit managed to get on the scoreboard just before the half, cutting their deficit to 10-3 on a Jason Hanson 38-yard field goal.
Minnesota wasted little time in pushing their lead to 17-3 in the third quarter as Adrian Peterson scored his second touchdown of the game, a one-yarder, 42 seconds into the frame. Detroit tried to keep the game close and Matt Stafford pulled the Lions back to within 17-10 when he found Will Heller on an 8-yard toss midway through the quarter.
The Vikings gave themselves some breathing room early in the fourth when Favre hit Jeff Dugan on an 8-yard touchdown pass and Longwell iced the game with a 35-yard field goal with just over seven minutes left in the game.
