Shaniya Davis Believed to be Dead, Search for Body Begins

North Carolina police launched a search for the body of missing 5-year-old Shaniya Davis after receiving “reliable information” she is dead. About 200 people were searching near a Fayettville roadway where police believe her body may have been dumped.

Shaniya was reported missing last Tuesday by her mother Antoinette Nicole Davis. Davis claimed her daughter disappeared from their mobile home.

Police say Davis was “prostituting her child.” She is charged with human trafficking, child abuse involving prostitution, filing a false police report and resisting, delaying or obstructing an officer.

A man identified as Mario Andrette McNeill, 29, has been charged with first-degree kidnapping in Shaniya’s disappearance. Hotel surveillance footage taken around the time Shaniya went missing shows her with McNeill. McNeill was arrested Friday and has reportedly admitted to taking Shaniya.

Charges against Clarence Coe, who was arrested Thursday in connection with the case, have been dropped.

Shaniya is about 3 feet tall and weighs 40 pounds. She has brown hair, brown eyes and was last seen wearing a blue t-shirt and pink underwear. Anyone with information about Shaniya and her whereabouts is asked to contact the Fayetteville Police Department at (910) 433-1856.
