Calgary, Alberta – Many people find themselves in leadership positions before they’ve developed the necessary skills. In that moment, you’re at a crossroads: what kind of leader will you be?
The days of “management only” leadership, the old-world industrial model that says “I’m the boss and you do what I say,” are long gone. When young people with new ideas and new ways of thinking are confronted with this old-world paradigm, it stifles their creativity.
According to Heather Henderson, founder of Henderson Hill Coaching and Consulting, it’s time to shift our way of thinking on leadership. To understand leadership in the 21st Century, we need to adapt to a new paradigm.
“Great leaders listen more than they speak,” says Henderson. “I work with leaders to become even better leaders by growing their relationships, expanding their skill set and teaching them how to utilize tools and techniques to become great leaders.”
As a coach, facilitator, trainer and speaker, Henderson develops individuals to not just be good leaders, but great leaders. Whether you are an aspiring leader or you want to promote leadership within your organization, Henderson Hill Coaching and Consulting can deliver a program best suited to your needs.
“Being a great leader is about being courageous and empowered,” says Henderson. “It all goes back to building relationships. You’re not just part of a team; you’re part of a community.”
Henderson spent her entire 30 year career as an educational leader in her community, first as a teacher and later a principal; she spent her final 12 years in K-12 education as a deputy superintendent where the majority of her portfolio focused on leadership development and growth. In 2011, Henderson decided she would take early retirement to start her own business, combining her educational experience with her work facilitating workshops to explore techniques for effective leadership.
“My vision for the future is to continue to share my message,” says Henderson; “to be a leader is to be your best self: courageous, strong and empowered.”
