Mickael Pietrus scored 20 points and grabbed 6 rebounds while Jason Richardson finished with 16 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists as the Golden State Warriors (30-36) snapped the Dallas Mavericks (52-10) 17 game winning streak 117-100.
There was little the Mavericks could do as the Warriors had six players score in double figures and finished the game shooting 57 percent from the floor.
Dallas was coming off a 36 point victory over the Lakers last night but fell flat against Golden State. The loss snapped the NBA’s seventh longest winning streak of all-time but Dallas is still the only team in NBA history to compile three winning streaks of 12 or more games in one season.
The Warriors were fortunate to be hitting their shots because they were being dominated on the glass. The Mavericks out-rebounded Golden State 50-28, 20-5 on the offensive side. But committing 23 turnovers and an off night from Dirk Nowitzki and Josh Howard were enough to bury the Mavs.
