Sprint Nextel Corporation (NYSE:S) added $0.18 or 5.14% over its previous day’s price and now trades at $3.68 on a massive volume of 60.64 million shares. The stock has a 52-week range of $1.35-$5.94.  The company launched its WiMAX service in those cities, offering ultra-fast mobile broadband service. Sprint had announced those planson Oct. 22. Sprint offers the 4G service in about 25 markets.

 

Semitool, Inc. (NASDAQ:SMTL)   augmented 30.24% to $10.94 on an unusual massive volume of 28.82 million shares.  The stock today also touched a new 52 week high at $10.96. The company and Applied Materials, Inc. announced a definitive agreement for Applied to acquire the outstanding shares of Semitool for $11 per share in an all-cash tender offer. Under terms of an agreement approved by the boards of directors of both companies, Applied Materials will pay an aggregate purchase price of approximately $364 million based on the fully diluted capitalization of Semitool. The acquisition will be conducted pursuant to a tender offer for all of the outstanding shares of Semitool and is conditioned on the tender of at least 66 2/3% of Semitool`s outstanding stock on a fully-diluted basis and other customary closing conditions including regulatory approval.

 

SINA Corporation (USA) (NASDAQ:SINA) jumped 10.22% to $47.27 with an unusual massive volume of 3.31 million shares.  The stock today also created a new 52 week high at $47.95. The company has announced its unaudited financial results for the third quarter ended September 30, 2009, with net revenues reaching USD 96.4 million down 8.5% year-on-year, but up 6.8% quarter-on-quarter. Net income for the quarter came to USD 16.7 million, down 11.6% year on year, but up 25.6% quarter on quarter. Advertising revenues decreased 16% year on year to USD 63.8 million but were up 10% quarter on quarter. Non-advertising revenues, 95% deriving from WVAS revenues, increased 12% year-on-year to USD 32.6 million. WVAS revenues reached USD 30.9 million up 14% year on year.
