The Buffalo Bills brutal 3-6 start to the NFL season cost Dick Jauron his job as the club fired their head coach on Tuesday and are expected to name defensive coordinator Perry Fewell as interim head coach.
Bills owner Ralph Wilson made the announcement saying, “I am announcing today that I am relieving Dick Jauron from his duties as our head coach, effective immediately. I have tremendous respect for Dick and thank him for all of his efforts during these past four years. While this was a very difficult decision, I felt that it is one that needed to be made at this time for the best interest of our team. We will now focus on moving forward and preparing for our game this week in Jacksonville.”
Jauron was 7-9 each of his first three seasons and many anticipated the club would surpass that mark this year after bringing in Terrell Owens to bolster the offense but the Bills have averaged just 15.6 points per game, among the worst in the NFL.
