Playing without superstar LeBron James, the Cleveland Cavaliers (39-25) used a huge third quarter to take down the Sacramento Kings (28-35) 124-100 and win their sixth straight.
With LeBron scratched from the game due to back spasms there were plenty of Cavaliers swilling to step up for their leader. Sasha Pavlovic scored a career-high 25 points while dishing out 6 assists and Larry Hughes dropped 25, grabbed 6 rebounds and dealt out 7 assists. Zydrunas Ilgauskas and Drew Gooden helped the Cavs hold a 51-33 advantage on the glass with 10 rebounds apiece.
Cleveland used a 35-18 third quarter to break a 51-51 tie at the break to grab control of the game. Using a 24-5 run to start the third Cleveland was up 75-56 with just under six minutes gone in the period.
The Cavaliers shot 54 percent from the floor, including 56 percent from beyond the three-point line. They also hit 90 percent from the free-throw line, a 22 percent improvement over their season average.
