Hudson Horizons upgrades to SQL Server 2008 and Windows Server 2008
Web Development Company progresses right along with essential web technology
Web Development Company Hudson Horizons recently began the transition from its current servers and ASP.Net editions to upgraded versions in an assiduous movement to stay up to speed on evolving server technologies.
Over the past few weeks, the in-house website development team at Hudson Horizons— led by VP of Web Development Matt Mayernik— has been upgrading its systems from MS SQL 2005 to MS SQL 2008, Windows 2003 Server to Windows 2008 Server and ASP.Net 2.0 to ASP.Net 3.5.
Commenting on the project’s intricacies, Mayernik noted, “The shift between the SQL servers was pretty seamless, but the change from Windows 2003 Server to the Windows 2008 platform proved to be much more involved."
Mayernik explained that the complex upgrade required an equally complex solution- one his team was able to successfully achieve.
“The migration from IIS 6 to IIS 7 posed some interesting issues with how the previous websites and applications were configured,” he said. “We were able to modify the existing applications and provide a framework for moving forward with the new platform.”
Thanks to a team of hardworking professional Web 2.0 developers, Mayernik is confident Hudson Horizons can have the shift completed by January 2010; this way, they can begin exclusively creating future clients’ websites on these new servers.
In the meantime, Hudson Horizons has begun switching a handful of select clients over so that the development team can run rigorous beta tests and ensure a smooth, functional, bug-free transition.
Other preexisting clients of the website development company will be migrated over to the new server platform based on necessity, confirmed Mayernik.
