Agrium Reaches Out to Shareholders for Support

Finance World News Update by EQUITIES Magazine

Canadian fertilizer company Agrium urged shareholders of rival CF Industries Holdings Inc to accept its buyout offer, restating its most recent offer of $45 cash and one share of Agrium stock for each CF share, amounting to $100.54 per share or roughly $5 billion, based on yesterday’s closing share price.

"Tendering your shares into this offer will send an unambiguous message to the CF board: the owners of CF want this deal at this price," Agrium said to shareholders in a statement.

Agrium shares climbed 89 cents to $56.43 while shares of CF rose $1.84, or 2.2 percent, to $85.73 in afternoon trading.
