Forget the words to a Diana Ross song and you won’t last long. That was the sentiment of the American voters on Wednesday night’s episode of American Idol as Brandon Rogers was voted out.
On Tuesday night’s show Rogers bumbled his way through the Ross classic “You Can’t Hurry Love” and was admonished by the judges for his lack of charisma. Simon Cowell had gone as far as labeling Rogers a back up singer to a back up singer for his lack of presence on the stage.
Rogers didn’t seem all that shocked by the decision saying, “I kind of expected it.” While he was certainly not a throw back to Motown the voters’ choice to send Rogers packing while retaining Sanjaya Malakar remains a mystery.
Malakar and Phil Stacey joined Rogers in the bottom three but they survived to sing another day.
American Idol is now down to 11 hopefuls but the next vote off is big because the top ten contestants usually travel together on an American Idol tour.
