Louisville Cardinals Knock off Stanford to Move On in NCAA Tournament

The number six seeded Louisville Cardinals had little trouble handling the eleventh seeded Stanford Cardinal in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament 78-58.

In a match-up of Cardinals against Cardinal it often appeared as if it was plural versus singular as Louisville buried Stanford with a 41-13 sprint in the first half and went to the locker room with a 46-20 lead.

Louisville was able to empty their bench in the second half as Stanford couldn’t put a stop to the Cardinals perimeter game. Louisville shot 49 percent from the floor and hit 41 percent from beyond the arc while making 75 percent from the foul-line. In contrast, Stanford shot 42 percent from the floor, hit 25 percent from the triple line and made just 48 percent of their free-throws.

Edgar Sosa and David Padgett scored 16 points for Louisville while Derrick Caracter and Earl Clark each had 12.
