Withdrawal from high doses of methadone and other opioids like OxyContin are difficult at most detox centers. However, Novus Medical Detox Center is one of the few medical detox centers anywhere that has developed a protocol that allows people to safely withdraw from high doses of methadone and other opioids like OxyContin. Most of these withdrawals at Novus can be completed in 14 days or less and with little discomfort.
In this week's newsletter entitled High Dose Methadone Detox, Novus director Steve Hayes explains how someone can withdraw from a high dose of methadone at home or how they can withdraw at Novus Medical Detox Center.
Mr. Hayes said, “While methadone is very addictive, people can withdraw from this drug on their own. It will not be easy. It will take time. It will not be without discomfort but it can be done. I have laid out a program that will work.”
Mr. Hayes urges people to withdraw from methadone whether at home following the instructions in this newsletter or at a medical detox facility like Novus. Methadone is a dangerous drug and should never be thought of as a “treatment” for other addiction.
