Georgetown Hoyas Blast Belmont in Opening Round to Advance in NCAA Tournament
Jessie Sapp scored 20 points and grabbed 6 rebounds while Roy Hibbert added 10 points and 13 boards as the number two seeded Georgetown Hoyas blasted the number fifteen seeded Belmont Bruins 80-55 to advance in the NCAA Tournament.
Belmont jumped to an 11-4 lead in the first six minutes of the game but Georgetown seemed to regain their composure and went on a 23-4 run to grab a 27-15 lead. The Hoyas finished the half with a 38-25 advantage.
After Belmont scored the opening bucket of the second half Georgetown ran off eight straight to open their lead to 46-27 and the rout was on.
Big East player of the year Jeff Green finished with 15 points on 6-9 shooting for the Hoyas and Georgetown shot 54 percent from the field.
