Arrayit Corporation (OTC: ARYC), a developer, manufacturer and marketer of proprietary life sciences technologies and consumables for disease prevention, announces that researchers at the Indian Institute of Toxicology Research (IITR) in the state of Uttar Pradesh in India have used the company’s microarray platform in order to better understand pesticide-induced Parkinsonism.
Pesticide-induced Parkinsonism is a medical condition in which humans are accidentally exposed to high levels of certain pesticides, which lead to symptoms similar to those seen in Parkinson’s Disease (PD). Scientists at the IITR, which included Dr. Naveen Kumar Singhal, used ARYC’s Mouse Discover Chips™ Microarrays to measure changes in gene expression resulting from pesticide in mice.
The research conducted by Indian scientists has been published in the August edition of Molecular and Cellular Biochemistry. ARYC believes that the research could provide a simple diagnostic test for pesticide exposure in humans and a therapeutic treatment to prevent PD symptoms in patients exposed accidentally to high levels of pesticides.
