NCAA Tournament Scores: Michigan State Takes Advantage of Cold Shooting From Marquette to Advance

Number nine seeded Michigan State raced to a 14-0 lead on the number eight seeded Marquette Golden Eagles and cruised to a 61-49 victory to advance in the NCAA Tournament.

Marquette missed their first eight shots and a pair of free-throws as the Michigan State Spartans opened up a 14-0 lead with 10:21 remaining in the first half. From that point on the Golden Eagles were trying to play catch-up and could never manage to stop the offense of the Spartans.

In the second half Marquette cut the lead to ten but hit another cold spell where they were held scoreless for five minutes and fell behind by 20 with no real chance to stage a comeback.

Raymar Morgan scored 14 points and grabbed 9 rebounds for the Spartans while Drew Neitzel added 12 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Michigan State will now take on top seeded North Carolina in the second round.
