The number three seeded Pittsburgh Panthers had five players score in double figures and each played an impressive role in their 79-58 beating of number the fourteen seeded Wright State Raiders.
Pitt started the game with a 13-0 run but Wright State fought back to tie the score 22-22 with 8:35 remaining in the first. The Panthers then closed the half on a 21-8 run backed by four three-pointers to head into the locker room up 43-30.
The second half started with an 11-3 run by Pittsburgh and there was nothing the Raiders could do from there. The panthers were just to balanced for Wright State as they were able to pound the ball down low to Aaron Gray as well as hit open shots on the perimeter.
Gray finished with 11 points, 9 rebounds and 4 blocks while Ronald Ramon had 14 points and 7 boards, Sam Young added 13 points and Levance Fields dished out 9 assists. Pittsburgh finished at 54 percent from the field and grabbed 14 more boards than the Raiders.
Pittsburgh will now take on VCU in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
