Denver Nuggets Send Lakers to Seventh Straight Loss, Longest Streak in Phil Jackson’s Career

The Denver Nuggets (32-31) got help from an emerging star to send the Los Angeles Lakers (33-32) to their seventh straight loss, 113-86. Linas Kleinza, averaging 6.0 ppg, scored 29 points and grabbed 6 rebounds for the Nuggets while Denver won their third straight.

For head coach Phil Jackson, the Lakers seven game skid is the longest losing streak in his 16-year career.  Los Angeles has now fallen to the number seven seed in the Western Conference playoff standings.

While Kleinza hit 10-13 from the floor Allen Iverson finished with 13 assists to go with his 14 points and Carmelo Anthony added 26 points and 8 rebounds in the win.

Denver took control of the game in the third quarter after overcoming an 11-point deficit in the first half. The Nuggets put together an 11-2 run in the third that gave them a 74-64 lead and knocked the Lakers out of the game.

Kobe Bryant finished with 25 points and 9 assists in the loss.
