Chris Douglas-Roberts scored 16 points and grabbed 5 rebounds while Joey Dorsey finished with 9 points and 12 rebounds as the number two seeded Memphis Tigers overcame a determined number fifteen seeded North Texas Mean Green squad to win 73-58.
North Texas hung with the Tigers for much of the first half and held a 26-25 lead with under five minutes in the opening frame but Memphis put together a 9-0 run to end the half and went to the locker room with a 37-28 advantage.
The Mean Green were within six with 12:26 remaining but went through a five minute dry spell from the floor and the Tigers pulled away with a 15-point lead.
Memphis has now won 23 straight games and will take on the winner of the Nevada/Creighton match-up in the second round.
