Prosecutors Seeking Life Sentence for Amanda Knox in Murder of British Student

Prosecutors in Italy are seeking a life sentence for Amanda Knox, the American that stands accused of murdering 21-year-old British student Meredith Kercher in Perugia two years ago.

The case against Knox has made international headlines as prosecutors have presented a horrific scenario in which the American smashed Kercher’s head against a wall and tried to strangle her while boyfriend, Raffaele Sollecito, held Kercher down and a third person sexually assaulted her before the trio cut her throat.

That third person, Rudy Guede, has already been convicted in a separate trial and is serving a 30 year sentence for his role in Kercher’s death.

According to prosecutors the Knox, Sollecito and Guede had been in a drug-induced craze and were trying to get Kercher to participate in a sex game and when she refused the three murdered her.

Knox has denied the charges against her, calling them “pure fantasy” and insisting that Kercher was a friend and she would have never harmed her.

A verdict in the case is expected in December.
