CNAs or Certified Nursing Assistants operating in the USA, who contribute towards public welfare and health care in general for US citizens, are creating a special program to spread awareness on Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI). They are also expending efforts to provide treatment to patients who are victims of TBI. The main objective of this program is to present information and knowledge to all the medical fraternities of the USA about traumatic brain injuries. This includes epidemiology, symptoms and signs, nursing interventions, analyses and assessment and types of injuries.
Traumatic Brain Injury or intracranial injury basically occurs when any external force injures the human brain rather traumatically. TBI can be classified in terms of mechanism or severity or even on the basis of various other features. CNAs are undertaking effective measures to deal with such crisis that affects many USA citizens.
TBI has also been a major reason for deaths and disabilities around the world and the United States is no exception. It has affected many children and young adults as well. The main reasons for TBI are violence, vehicle accidents and falls. In order to prevent this form of injuries to occur, the CNAs of USA are organizing safety education programs and road shows for US citizens to undertake preventive measures such wearing seat belts in cars and other heavy vehicles and to wear helmets while traveling on two wheelers. They are also appealing to the government to implement stronger enforcement of traffic laws.
TBI can lead to a host of emotional, physical, behavioral and cognitive effects. The outcome of such injuries can range from total recovery to everlasting disability to even death. The CNAs are therefore doing intensive research to find the best possible methods to treat TBI patients. Some of these include imaging techniques like magnetic resonance imaging and computed tomography. Others are occupational therapy, speech therapy and physical therapy.
