This year has been tremendous for some of the best French poker players. In every poker tournament there were victories for the brilliant French players. Breton Antoine Saout took third place in the World Series of Poker (WSOP) in 2009, which some say is the best French poker victory of all time. Some assume that all French poker players start out playing poker online or play poker as their only income. While most do begin their careers playing poker online, not all of the best French poker players do. They also work outside of playing poker, which can help them in their game.
The best new French poker players do not typically have contracts with sponsors. They have day jobs and businesses. Christophe Benzimra is a French immigrant from Romania where he was a businessman for years. Benzimra won first place in the European Poker Tournament Event Season 6 in October of 2009, took 17th in the Rendez vous à Paris in May of 2009, and came in 6th place in the European Poker Tournament Budapest.
Jean Montury from France won two world champion titles with teams. Montury also won 30th in the London Open European Poker Tournament in October 2009, 9th in the Omaha double chance of the London Open, and 12th in the Euro Finals of Poker in January of 2009.
Eric Haik won 27th place in the London Open European Poker Tournament Event Season 6 and 4th place in Deuville European Poker Tournament Season 5.
The French men are new poker players who are performing well and increasing their winnings each time they play poker. They don’t solely play poker for a living and have other businesses and jobs, which some believe helps them play poker better than if they only played poker without a side job.
