Peet’s Grows Diedrich Offer $32 per Share, Roasting Green Mountain by $2

Peet’s Coffee & Tea Inc. said today that it was raising its offer for Diedrich Coffee Inc. to $265 million, up from the previous proposal of $213 million.

 

Incited by a competing offer by Green Mountain Coffee Roasters Inc. for $30 per share in cash for the wholesale roaster and distributor, the coffee chain retailer bumped their offering to $32 per share.

 

Diedrich shares leapt $6.88, or 26 percent, to $32.87 while share of Peet’s declined $3.15, or 8.3 percent, to $34.85 in morning trading.
