A poll on www.xfusenews.com is taking a tally of which 2008 Presidential candidate is the most popular in the early part of the race. “Many viewers and readers have confirmed Congressman Ron Paul announced his 2008 Presidential Candidacy on C-Span on March 12, 2007.” said a www.XFuseNews.com spokes person, adding “It is pretty remarkable how many people have emailed and called to give us the details of a candidate. We hope to be responsive and get information posted on our site as quickly as we can.” Congressman Paul is now posted on the site, and listed in the poll with huge numbers of votes. “Viewers are encouraged to upload a video of the candidate or their own views on the site as well.”
One reader posted this comment on the www.XFuseNews.com discussion forum, “To help expedite things here is the link to Congressman Paul’s House of Representatives website: http://www.house.gov/paul/ ."
According to his website http://www.house.gov/paul/bio.shtml “Dr. Paul returned to Congress in1997 after serving in Congress during the late 1970s and early 1980s. He represents the 14th Congressional district of Texas. He serves on the House Financial Services Committee, the International Relations committee, and the Joint Economic Committee. On the Financial Services Committee, Rep. Paul serves as the vice-chairman of the Oversight and Investigations subcommittee. He continues to advocate a dramatic reduction in the size of the federal government and a return to constitutional principles.”
"It will be interesting to see how the polls will change as each candidate’s platform becomes available to potential voters," says Blaire Fanning of XFuseNews.com. "We are providing one more source for information about what the candidates stand for and invite all the candidates to post platform videos."
The site also is trying to attract the under 30 age group to share opinions online and encourage younger people to cast a vote. “I know I am guilty of spending a lot of time discussing my opinions online, but then have trouble realizing my vote really counts at the polls,” says, Shola Seals, a recent college graduate and resident of Tampa, Florida. Seals added, “I posted a video on the site and it feels good to know I might make a difference.”
"We know the internet will play an active roll in the 2008 election and are looking for ways to improve how information about political candidates is made available to the public," added Fanning. "Who knows what will prove most effective in getting candidates information to voters and just as importantly, citizens opinions to the candidates, but we are committed in helping with the process."
