GM Sues Supplier Over Millions Spent Making Steering Repairs

Finance World News Update by EQUITIES Magazine

General Motors is suing JTEKT North America, which supplied the steering assemblies in the Cobalt, Pursuit, G5, HHR and other vehicles, saying that it’s costing tens of millions of dollars to repair shaky steering columns.

In the lawsuit, the automaker says it found excessive gear backlash and over $30 million has been spent on customer warranty claims, which often cite unusual rattles, “clunks” and other noises.

Filed in Macomb County Circuit Court, the case was moved to federal court in Detroit last week.
