American Italian Pasta Reports Larger 4Q Profit

Finance World News Update by EQUITIES Magazine

The nation’s largest maker of dry pasta, American Italian Pasta Co., reported that its fourth-quarter earnings more than doubled, coming back for second helpings despite an 8 percent drop in sales.

American Italian Pasta officials said the volume decline reflected government contracts favoring smaller companies, the recession’s impact on some of its customers and cheaper manufacturing agreements.

Shares rose $1.06, or 3.6 percent, to $30.61 in morning trading.
