Toyota has expanded a safety recall for Tundra trucks to
include 2002 and 2003 models. The recall was originally issued for only 2000
and 2001 models because of possible corrosion to the frame rear cross-member.
Toyota says road salt used on roads during cold weather
could cause corrosion on the frame rear cross member, affecting the vehicle’s
braking system. The spare wheel could also become detached from the bottom of
the vehicle.
The recall begins on December 9 and will go until early
2010. Tundra owners whose vehicle is part of the recall will be informed by
letter. Toyota will repair the vehicles for free.
