Glen “Big Baby” Davis has announced that he will forgo his senior year at LSU and enter the NBA draft.
The 6’9, 290 pound center who struggled through an injury plagued seasons said “After my toughest year, I now feel I am physically and mentally ready for the NBA.” Davis averaged 17.7 points and 10.4 rebounds per game but his team failed to live up to preseason expectations. After last year’s Final Four appearance the Tigers went 17-15 and failed to earn an invitation to the NCAA Tournament or the NIT.
Davis compiled 1,587 points and 916 rebounds in his three years at LSU.
Had Davis declared for the NBA last year he would have had a better chance of becoming a lottery pick in what was seen as a weak draft. This year Davis might struggle to be selected in the first round. With several underclassmen such as Kevin Durant, Greg Oden, Julian Wright, Brandan Wright and Brook Lopez expected to declare Davis could find himself buried in the second round.
