New Jersey led at the half 49-42 but that lead quickly disappeared in the third quarter as the Nuggets opened up with a 15-7 run to grab a 57-56 advantage and never trailed again. The Nuggets would add a 12-0 run to bump their lead to 73-60 later in the quarter as the Nets went scoreless for nearly five and a half minutes.
The Nets had some great chances in the fourth quarter but each time they got close the Nuggets answered with a big basket. Vince Carter kept the Nets within two with 2:23 left but Jason Kidd missed a three-pointer and Anthony completed a three-point play on the other end of the court to give the Nuggets some breathing room with 1:38 on the clock.
Carter had the chance to tie the score with 9 seconds but his three-pointer missed and Iverson was able to hit one-of two free throws to seal the game.
Carter finished with 29 points, 7 rebounds and 9 assists in the loss.
